No. 6 Lords make it 22 straight sets won

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – Continuing to climb the national rankings, the No. 6 Durham College women's volleyball team defeated the Fleming Knights in straight sets on Thursday evening in Peterborough. Set scores were 25-5, 25-15, 25-10.

The victory marks the seventh consecutive straight set win for the green and gold, having now won 22 sets in a row. The Lords made quick work of the Knights, defeating them in under 60 minutes thanks to and incredible service game which featured 14 aces.

DC will end their first semester this Sunday when they welcome a strong competitor in the Canadore Panthers to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre. The Lords will also be accepting non-perishable food items prior to the start of Sunday's doubleheader alongside the Durham basektball teams this Friday, all in support of Settlement House. First serve for the match is set for 1 p.m. with the action being streamed on OCAA LIVE.
  • First-year outside hitter Melia Ciccarelli (Toronto, Ont.) and second-year setter Georgi Williams (Whitby, Ont.) led the Lords with seven points apiece in the win. Ciccarelli finished the night with three kills and four aces, while Williams recorded all seven of her points from the service line.  
• Veteran Allyson Terwillegar (Enniskillen, Ont.) and rookie Haley Bickell (Winnipeg, Man.) each added six points, with the pair recording identical stat lines of four kills, an ace, and a block.
• Sarah Heffernan led the way for the Knights recording six points from five kills and one block.
  • Along with her impressive serving performance, Williams added 22 assists over three sets from her setter position.
• DC held the Knights offence in check with no Fleming player recording more than seven assists, and no player recording more than five kills.
  Overall Record: 18-6
