Durham dominates at the net

OSHAWA, Ont. – Facing one of the toughest challenges of the season so far, the reinvigorated Durham College men's volleyball team maintained their undefeated start, dropping the visiting Georgian Grizzlies 3-1 on Friday night at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre. Set scores were 25-11, 23-25, 25-19, 25-16.

The No. 7 nationally ranked Lords were dominant at the net, out-blocking the Grizzlies 15-2 over the four set victory. Six different DC players recorded a block in the win, while four players recorded double-digit points. Meanwhile, the Lords defence was also impressive out-digging Georgian 31-12.
 
Durham will look to continue their ascent up both the provincial and national standings with their next match versus the Centennial Colts scheduled for this Monday, Nov. 18. First serve is set for 8 p.m. with the match being streamed on OCAA LIVE.
  • Cracking the 20 point plateau for the first time this season, third-year outside hitter Andrew Dube (Uxbridge, Ont.) notched a game-high 21 points from 17 kills, one ace, and three blocks in the decisive hom victory.
• Both Lucas Pichl (Cobourg, Ont.) and Rouzbeh Rahnavard (Richmond Hill, Ont.) registered 13 points, with Pichl finishing with eight kills and a game-high five blocks, while Rahnavard produced 11 kills and two blocks.
• Samuel Thorup was the lone Grizzlies player to break double digits recording 11 points from 10 kills and one ace.
  • Fifth-year setter Liam Gray (Barrie, Ont.) utilized all the weapons at his disposal, finishing the four set contest with a season-high 41 assists. He also added an impressive nine service aces, one block, and one kill.
• Both Rahnavard and Tyler Krabi (Stouffville, Ont.) led the Lords defensively with seven digs apiece.
• Gibson Graham guided the Georgian offence with 31 assists, Thorup added a team-high five digs defensively.
