(London, Ontario) – On Saturday afternoon at the OCAA Baseball Provincial Championship in Oshawa, the Fanshawe Falcons captured the OCAA bronze medal, falling to St. Clair by a score of 5-4.

On Friday in day one of the Championship, Fanshawe fell to the Humber Hawks in the quarterfinal game 6-2. Quinton Twohey (London, ON) was named player of the game in game one, going 1 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBIs.  The Falcons then rebounded with a comeback win over the host Durham Lords to advance to the semi-final against the St. Clair Saints. Against Durham, Fanshawe was down 6-3 heading to their last at bat, but had an incredible four-run seventh inning to take the lead. Falcons' pitcher and player of the game Darren Dwyer (West Montrose, ON) entered the game with one out and the bases loaded. He proceeded to strikeout the next two batters to get the save and closeout the game. With the win, the Falcons have also secured a spot in the Baseball National Championship.

In Saturday's game against the Saints, Fanshawe was down 4-1 going into the fifth inning. The Falcons were able to make another comeback to tie the game 4-4 after the sixth inning, however St. Clair would score a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to win 5-4. Since Fanshawe's Baseball inception in 2013, the Falcons have won an OCAA medal in each year of the program. Fanshawe's Matt Bowden (London, ON) was named player of the game and Brendan Robertson (Oshawa, ON) was named a Tournament All-Star.

Fanshawe will head to the 2018 Baseball National Championship hosted by Humber College in Etobicoke from October 25-27.
