Knights Women Earn Two More Wins in Weekend Series with Sault Colllege

February 10, 2020…WELLAND - After going winless in six, the Niagara College women's basketball team added three more wins to their season after sealing up to victories over Sault College this weekend at home.

Saturday night's match-up saw the Knights take a 67-41 win over the Cougars, who have yet to record a win this season.

The Knights dominated the course of the game, eventually throwing the hammer down in the fourth to outscore the Cougars 22-8 to cruise to a 26 point win.

Rookie Terin Hultink with 20 points and 14 rebounds led the Knights, while Kaisen Mackinon followed up with 17 points.

Carrying that momentum into Sunday afternoon's game, the Knights picked up where they left off soaring to a 75-50 win to improve to 3-13 on the season.

First- year Beth deBoer led the Knights with a season-high 18 points, followed by Hultink with 17 points and 16 rebounds.

"Obviously it was great to come away from a weekend with two wins," said head coach Chris Rao.

"I am incredibly happy with our effort and attention to detail these two games. We continued to get better executing on both ends of the floor and got some great individual performances within our structure."

The Knights will take a break from varsity action until Weds February 19th, when they prepare to take on Redeemer (2-14) for their final home game of the year. The Knights will look to extend their two game winning streak to three, after their first win of the season came from a 79-76 win over Redeemer back on November 21, 2019.
