Box Score PETERBOROUGH, ON - Winning their second straight game, the Durham Lords women's soccer team defeated the Fleming Knights 3-1 in Peterborough on Saturday afternoon.
The Lords were led early by their veterans as fourth-year midfielder and defence
Bailey Colangelo (Whitby, ON) and fourth-year forward
Natassha Hassenstein (Oshawa, ON) scored the first two goals of the game. Colangelo opened the scoring for DC in the 30th minute, with Hassenstein potting what would be the game-winner in the 46th.
Rounding out the scoring for Durham on the day was first-year striker
Laura Smith (Queensville, ON) who scored just one minute after Hassenstein in the 47th. Smith has had a stellar rookie campaign thus far, notching four goals through four games including scoring a goal in all three of the Lords wins this season.
Nikki Bradshaw (Newtonville, ON) earned the win for the Lords as DC's starting keeper.
The Lords will now travel to Scarborough to face the Centennial Colts for the second time this season. DC won the first match 1-0. The Tuesday, Oct. 5 game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. kick off.
