George Brown Women's Soccer had a productive weekend in Northern Ontario, taking three points off the Sault Cougars (0-5-1) in a 4-1 victory on Saturday (Sept. 24) and recording another in a tightly battled 0-0 draw versus Sudbury's Cambrian College (2-2-2) on Sunday (Sept. 25).

HOW IT HAPPENED - SAULT: The Huskies worked their way comfortably around the field in their opening game of the two-day swing trip. Striker Makayla Cabral (3rd Year) opened the scoring in the 11th minute to get the Huskies on the board first, the lone goal of the first half. The second half saw the Huskies ramp up their offensive pressure, recording six shots on goal of their nine on the afternoon in that second frame.

The second goal of the afternoon came off a great individual effort by 5th Year senior Julia Kassner, who battled her way through two defenders before taking a beautiful strike over the goalkeeper's head in the 55th minute. The Huskies next score would come just a few minutes later, in the 58th minute, off a Cynthia Pellegrino penalty shot after a Husky was taken down just inside the box.

In the 83rd minute the Cougars would capitalize on a defensive miscue by the Huskies, slipping one passed 1st Year goalkeeper Victoria Broomer, making the score 3-1.

But the Huskies kept the pressure on, with the final goal of the evening coming once again off of the foot of Cabral, who would score her second of the evening in the dying seconds of the game in the 90th minute to lead the visiting squad to a final 4-1 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED - CAMBRIAN: The second game of the back-to-back versus Cambrian College was a highly contested match from start to finish. The Golden Shield came out with a lot pace early, but the visiting Huskies held the home team at bay until they settled into a rhythm of their own. It was a back and forth match, with Cambrian logging the majority of shots on goal, recording 9 on the afternoon against Huskies keeper Victoria Broomer.

George Brown managed to get off two solid attempts on goal themselves on three shots, both saved by Cambrian goalkeeper Reanna Beaudoin.

The draw puts George Brown at a record of 2-1-2 on the season, sitting them in 5th place in the OCAA East Division.

UP NEXT: The Huskies will face another tough matchup on Friday evening back at home when the face the 4th place Algonquin Wolves (3-1-1) at Esther Shiner stadium. Kick off is scheduled for 6pm. Can't make it in person? Watch the game live on our Livestream Channel!
