Oshawa, Ont. – After finishing off the first half of the season at 8-2, the long holiday break had nothing on the Lancers' winning mentality as they continued to put forth an amazing effort with a 89-78 victory over the Durham Lords.
The first quarter of play saw several lead changes before the Lancers managed to close it out with a 5 point lead. Things got interesting in the second quarter as it was back and forth the entire quarter until the visiting Lancers ended the quarter on a 12-3 run. The halftime break helped only proved to bolster momentum, ending the third with the Lancers ahead 72-62. The Lancers held onto the lead through forth and eventually defeated the Lords 89-78.
Lancers veteran guard Noah Korovesi led the way with 22 points on the night, going 9-15 from the field and 4-6 from the three point arc. Jeremiah Brown also added 16 points for the Lancers, while Branden McCartie finished with 12 points, all from behind the three point line, 3 steals and a block. Making his regular season debut for the Lancers, Kadrae Wright contributed 12 buckets, 4 boards, 4 assists and a steal.
The Lancers have a few days rest before they get back on the road to battle the Georgian Grizzles on Friday, Jan. 17. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m., with the game being streamed on OCAA LIVE.
