No. 4 Falcons Women’s Volleyball Wins 3-0 over Mohawk

(London, Ontario) – The No. 4 nationally ranked Fanshawe Women's Volleyball team (7-0) extended their OCAA win streak to 29 games with a 3-0 win over the Mohawk Mountaineers (6-2) on Saturday afternoon at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre.

 

The Falcons, who currently sit in first place in the OCAA West Division, showed their dominance over second place Mohawk in the opening set. Fanshawe won 25-15 in set one, followed by 25-23 and 25-21 second and third set victories.

 

The Birds were led by the reigning CCAA player of the year, outside hitter Janelle Albert (Brampton, ON), who had a game high 23 points and an impressive kill percentage of .519. The red and white had a strong game from the service line, recording 12 aces as a team. Rookie outside hitter Lauren Vahrmeyer (Vineland, ON) performed well on both offense and defense, notching 10 points and 10 digs, while London native Kiana Lee added 13 points and seven digs.

 

Albert currently leads the league in numerous statistical categories including points per set (6.0), kill percentage (.447), and kills per set (5.25). The Falcons will host the Sheridan Bruins (1-4) tomorrow at 1pm in their final home game of the first semester.
