HUSKIES FALL TO HAWKS IN HOME OPENER

HUSKIES FALL TO HAWKS IN HOME OPENER

After 697 days away from sports, the Huskies women's soccer team opened the 2021 varsity season against the Humber Hawks. They fought valiantly from start to finish but fell 9-0 to the Hawks on Friday (Sept. 17) evening at Esther Shiner Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Hawks came out firing on all cylinders and were rewarded right away. Giulia Zanardi found the back of the net in the second minute to jump out to the early lead. First-year goalkeeper Mahima Patil made five saves in the opening half, but it was not enough to hold off the Hawks. The visitors tallied three more goals in the first 37 minutes to head into the half up 4-0. From there, they did not look back the rest of the way.

Patil finished the contest with seven saves in her first game for the Huskies.

UP NEXT: The Huskies head up north to take on the Sault Cougars on Saturday (Sept. 25). The game starts at 11:00 a.m.
