Lafontaine records 100th career win

SCARBOROUGH, Ont. - Improving to 4-2 in the early going of the 2019-20 season, the Durham College women's basketball team defeated the Centennial Colts 83-56 on Thursday night in Scarborough.

The win marked the 100th career victory for head coach Heather Lafontaine, leading the green and gold in her seventh season. Under her leadership DC has qualified for the postseason in four season, reaching the OCAA final four this past spring. Her career conference record now stands at 65-40, while her overall record is 100-90. A 26 point first quarter allowed the Lords to jump out to a large lead early, allowing DC to never look back as they led from the first frame on. Most impressive was their three point shooting, nailing 13 three-pointers at 44 percent from behind the arc. This success was in large part to precision passing which saw DC record 25 assists on the evening to just eight for the Colts.

The Lords will now return to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre where they will conclude the fall semester with home games versus the UTM Eagles on Tuesday, Nov. 26 and the Seneca Sting on Friday, Nov. 29. Both games have start times scheduled for 6 p.m., with the games also being streamed on OCAA LIVE.
   • Knocking down 5-of-8 from behind the three point line, Andrea Zulich (Sudbury, Ont.) led the Lords with 24 points in the victory, finishing 9-for-13 from the field overall.
• Also breaking the 20 point mark and nailing five three-pointers, Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, Ont.) finished with 21 points.
• Christianna Crooks notched a team-high 15 points for the Colts in the loss.
