LANCERS TIE GOLDEN SHIELD

LANCERS TIE GOLDEN SHIELD

A battered Lancers squad turned up for battle at noon in Sudbury in the final leg of their weekend road trip to face the Cambrian Golden Shield.

Ella Bannon got things going early on with her second goal in as many games, just two minutes into the match to put the Lancers ahead 1-0.

The now 1-4-2 Lancers held the lead through the first half and deep into the second. Around the 80 minute mark the Golden Shield got a lucky call that gave them a golden opportunity to tie the match. The penalty kick was sent off the cross bar and the Lancers maintained their lead.

In the final seconds of the 4 minutes of extra time that was added, Cambrian scored on a header off a free kick to tie the game at 1 for the Lancers' second tie of the season.

The tie capped off a successful weekend road trip with the team earning 4 out of a possible 6 points.

The Lancers have their two final matches of the season at home against the first place & undefeated Seneca Sting on Thursday October 10th followed by and the 5-2 Durham Lords.
