Sting Battle Grizzlies

The Seneca Sting (2-6) fought hard against the top team in the OCAA East, but fell short, falling in straight sets to the Georgian Grizzlies (9-0).

Playing against the undefeated Grizzlies with an injury-plagued roster, the Sting came out swinging, putting a scare into the Grizzlies before dropping the opening set 26-24.

The Grizzlies responded in the following two sets by taking advantage of their size at the net and limiting the Sting attacks to complete the sweep.

David Lazarev topped the Sting with 12 kills. Joshua Cust finished with 7 kills while Jordan Grannum added 6 kills. Grender Dhillon had a team-high 10 digs while Grannum, Cust and Lazarev each added 4 digs. Richard Ngo finished with 25 assists.

The Grizzlies were led by Ryan DeBruyn who had 10 kills. Darien Haynes finished with 8 kills and Jake Edwards added 5 kills. Liam Gray topped the team with 31 assists and 7 digs. Sam Thorup and Justin Burke each had 6 digs. Mitchell Armstrong had a match-high 3 aces.
