Lords bounce back to split doubleheader with Falcons

LONDON, Ont. – On arguably their toughest, but definitely their longest road trip (842 km) of the year, the Durham College men's baseball team wrapped up the weekend with a split against the Fanshawe Falcons.

The Lords lost a heartbreaking 3-2 opening game in extra innings, but bounced back in a big way as Jake Legros (Whitby, Ont.) pitched a complete game shutout in Durham College's 7-0 victory.

After the opening weekend of OCAA action, every team has at least one victory, but it's the Humber Hawks that currently sit atop the standings at 3-1.
  Game 1
Griffin Oliver was 2-for-2 with a run scored, walk and a sac to lead the Lords at the plate
• The two RBIs for Durham came from Aidan Ali and Jake Legros.
• St. Clair's Darren Dwyer led the Saints with a double, run scored and RBI in two at bats.

Game 2
Alec Brown was 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI to pace the Lords offence. Griffin Oliver had another solid game at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.
• Fanshawe had six batters with one hit each.
  Game 1
Jason Crouse started for the Lords, giving up two earned runs on three hits over six innings in his first OCAA start.
• In relief in the seventh and eighth innings, Eric Beharri allowed the game-deciding run. The international rule is used in extra innings – Fanshawe sacrificed runners from first and second to second and third and then squeezed the runner home for the victory.
• Stephen Barclay is credited in the win for the Falcons. Over two innings of work he allowed two hits, while striking out three Lords.
• Fanshawe starter Noah Campagnolo had a game-high seven strikeouts.

Game 2
Jake Legros picked up his first win of the season. In the complete game shutout he allowed only six hits, while striking out two.
• Fanshawe used four pitchers, but it was Darren Dwyer that took the loss. Over two innings he allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks. Drew Foster allowed five earned runs on seven hits over three innings.
• Legros and Foster each had a game-high two strikeouts.
  Overall Record: 2-6-1 (W-L-T)
