Lords seventh inning comeback falls short

TORONTO, Ont. - The Durham College men's baseball team fell 8-1 and 6-4 in a Saturday night road doubleheader versus the Humber Hawks.

Humber found success in the fifth inning of both games, scoring all their runs in the bottom half. In the second contest of the night the Lords bounced back, scoring four runs, but the comeback fell short.

Durham continues their Toronto road swing challenging the George Brown Huskies on Wednesday, Oct. 3. The two teams will compete under the lights with first pitch set for 6 p.m.  
  Game 1
• Brendon Dadson (Bowmanville, Ont.) hit in his team-leading sixth RBI of the season in the third inning, the lone run of the contest for the Lords.
• Connor May (Oshawa, Ont.) delivered a perfect two-for-two day from the batters box, adding a walk and run.
• Justin Marra and Jared Gonsalves led the Hawks from the plate, batting in two RBI apiece.
 
Game 2
• Reagan Manley (Peterborough, Ont.), May, and Max Mocon (Bracebridge, Ont.) recorded hits in the Lords four-run seventh inning.
• Mocon batted in the lone RBI with the other three Lords runs coming off of a Hawks error.
• Humber infielders Brendon Lyons and Ty Martin both picked up two RBI in the Hawks six-run fifth. 
  Game 1
• Alec Brown (Bowmanville, Ont.) picked up his first loss of the season, pitching 4.2 innings, while allowing eight earned runs on seven hits.
• Josh Krstulovich (Brampton, Ont.) pitched in relief, allowing just one hit in 1.1 innings of work.
• Humber starting pitcher Rory Pollard earned the complete game victory striking out six Lords batter and allowing just one earned run on four hits.

Game 2
• Jake Legros (Whitby, Ont.) picked up his first loss of the season, pitching 4.1 innings, while allowing five earned runs on seven hits.
• Jason Crouse (Oshawa, Ont.) pitched in relief, allowing just one hit in 1.2 innings of work.
• Hawks pitcher Braden Taylor earned his second win of the season shutting out the Lords through six innings. 
  Overall Record: 6-12-1 (W-L-T)
Conference Record: 6-8-0
