Game Recap: Women's Softball | | Durham College Sports Information

Durham makes quick work of Seneca

OSHAWA, Ont. - Claiming their sixth consecutive win, the Durham College women's softball team defeated the visiting Seneca Sting in both games of a Friday night doubleheader at Vaso's Field.

The Lords have had the Stings number, dropping the visitors 5-1 and 8-0 in both games on the night, while outscoring the opponents from Noth York by a combined scoreline of 37-3 in four games this season.

Durham is now tied for first place in the OCAA with St Clair, as the pair each of 30 points on the season, but the Lords have two games in hand over the Saints. However, not far behind are the ever-dangerous Humber Hawks who sit at 24 points and six games in hand.

Lords softball hit the road fora Saturday doubleheader in Hamilton against the Mohawk Mountaineers. They then return to Durham Field for their home finale and final regular season games on Tuesday, Oct. 8. DC will honour their graduating seniors at the final scheduled home game. First in Hamilton on Saturday is set for 12 p.m., while Tuesday's home finale starts at 6 p.m.

• A five-run first inning, capped off by a two RBI single from Courtney McKellar (Alvinston, Ont.) helped build what turned into an insurmountable lead for the Lords.
• The Lords hit leader this season, Nicole Mancini (Toronto, Ont.) added to her totals with another 2-for-3 performance, picking up an RBI, a run, and a walk.
