Men’s Basketball Debut Season in Style

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team looked strong Wednesday night at the SportsPlex in their 2022 OCAA West Division regular season debut with a 103-93 win over Lambton College (Sarnia).

A decent shooting night for both teams allowed for some entertaining back and forth play in a game that saw several lead changes.  From the outset the pace was quick, but St. Clair came out of the first quarter ahead 27-26.  Lambton pulled back in front during early stages of the second quarter, but the Saints answered with a late push before halftime for a 53-48 advantage.  St.  Clair had their best frame in the third shooting 57% and outscored Lambton 29-24 entering the fourth.  Down the stretch the Saints took their largest lead (91-78) and cruised to final horn. 

St. Clair was dominant getting to the hoop with a 56-40 advantage in points around the basket but also outscored Lambton 16-2 in transition.  Overall, the Saints shot 48.2% but had 18 offensive rebounds and forced 22 Lambton turnovers to earn 12 extra shot attempts. 

Transfer guard Shakael Pryce (Pickering, ON) was outstanding scoring 32 points for St. Clair but added 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals in the win.  4th year guard Jesiah Deerr (Whitby, ON) registered a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Saints with Jalen Harmon (Ypsilanti, MI) putting up 16 points.  Transfer forward Hanani Ujullu (Kitchener, ON) also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds in reserve duty while 4th year guard Terence Williams (Windsor, ON) chipped in with 10 points for St. Clair. 

Lambton's Jerry Wilson (Detroit, MI) scored a team high 22 points off the bench in a losing cause. 

St. Clair will host Niagara College (Welland) on Nov. 5th in their next regular season game which tips at 6:00pm.
