Records fall as No. 5 Men’s Soccer concludes regular season

SAULT STE. MARIE – It was a perfect ending to the season for No. 5 Humber men's soccer, concluding with a big road victory Saturday afternoon against the Sault Cougars, 13-0. Rookie Karamvir Mehmi was the headliner on the day, scoring seven goals in the blowout victory.

It didn't take long for the Hawks to get on the board, as Mehmi scored his first goal in less than a minute of game time. Before the match hit the two-minute mark, Humber was up 3-0 with another goal from Mehmi and the first of two goals from Matthew McGrouther.

In the 19th minute, Federico Leal, known as one of the best ball strikers in Humber history, scored a banger from 35-yards out for his second goal of the season.

With four goals at the break, Karamvir Mehmi added three more in the second half, finishing with a program-record seven tallies – two shy of the OCAA record of nine.

Humber legend Karman Singh saw his first action of the season, recording his ninth career victory. Rookie Ezequiel Carrasco combined with Singh to earn the clean sheet.

No. 5 Humber men's soccer will receive a bye to the OCAA quarter-final round. The match will take place at the Ontario Soccer Centre on Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
