Box Score NORTH YORK, Ont. - Despite being down to 10-men early, the Durham Lords men's soccer team made it two wins in a row on Friday night with a 2-1 win over the George Brown Huskies in a weather shortened contest.
DC found themselves in trouble early as
Aidan Donaldson (Scarborough, Ont.) was shown a straight red card in the fourth minute of the game after a foul on the edge of the box where the centre back found himself as the last line of defence.
Despite being down to 10 men, Durham took the lead in the 15th minute when
Joshua Lee (Ajax, Ont.) tapped home the rebound from a
LeRohne Young (Scarborough, Ont.) free kick.
The Lords added an insurance goal in the 35th minute when Young made it 2-0, registering his second goal of the season.
George Brown pulled one back on the stroke of halftime when Ameer Kinani slotted home from close range, putting pressure back on Durham heading into the second half.
That was when a lightning storm settled in forcing the game into a lengthy delay. With the troublesome weather remaining the game was eventually called allowing Durham to take all three points in the shortened contest.
Kevon Grant (Oshawa, Ont.) picked up the win for the Lords in net.
The Lords will hope to continue their winning run next weekend when they go on the road north to take on the Sault Cougars and Cambrian Golden Shield.
