WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL LOSE TIGHT MATCH TO SENECA
The Georgian Grizzlies battled hard but fell 3-1 to the Seneca Sting on Saturday afternoon in King City.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team travelled to take on the Seneca Sting on Saturday afternoon in King City, ON.
The Grizzlies saw their lead in the first set slip away as they fell 27-25 and the Sting followed that with a 25-18 set win to hold a big lead on Georgian.
The Grizzlies battled back to take the third set 25-19 but that was as close as they would get as Seneca closed things out 25-23 in the fourth set to win the game 3-1.
Domenica De Francesco (Barrie) had a huge game for the Grizzlies scoring a career high 22 points from 20 kills and two blocks. Teammate Alyssa Muller (Whitby) had a 10 point effort from four kills, three aces and three blocks.
Georgian has now lost three straight contests as they fall to 5-8 on the season, as they sit in sixth place in the OCAA east division standings.
The Grizzlies will play their game when they travel to take on the Durham Lords next Thursday, Jan. 24.
Georgian's next home game will take place on Friday, Feb. 1 when they host the Algonquin Thunder with the women's game starting at 6 p.m. and the men's following at 8 p.m.
