It was a spirited matchup between the fourth and fifth ranked teams in the east division. Georgian was the better of the two teams on this night as they held the lead from start to finish in an 86-73 victory.
Tyler Vanessen (Whitby) led the way for the Grizzlies once again as he scored a game-high 28 points while also posting a team-high nine rebounds. Vanessen is currently 11th in the OCAA in scoring averaging 19.0 points-per-game.
Braeden Wilkinson (Ottawa) had a solid night off the bench scoring 15 points going five-for-seven from beyond the arc. Nikyle Williams-Mcintosh had a solid night as well hitting four three-pointers as part of a 16-point performance.
The win was a big one for the Grizzlies as it pulls them two wins ahead of the Colts in the standings. Georgian sits in fourth place in the east division standings with a 12-6 record.
"It was another fantastic defensive effort by our group," said Grizzlies Head Coach Matt Coulson. "Tyler (Vanessen) and Nikyle (Williams-Mcintosh) had big senior nights but Damian Wilson and Braeden Wilkinson both stepped up huge for us tonight."
With it being the final regular season home game, the Grizzlies recognized their graduating student-athletes prior to the game in a special ceremony.
That included Tyler Vanessen, Nikyle Williams-Mcintosh, Damon Green (Newmarket), William Hauseman (Newmarket), Scott Smith (Spanish) and Kayode Simmons (Brampton) who have all shown tremendous effort and dedication to Georgian.
