Knights Four Game Win Streak Comes to an End with 92-90 Loss to Mohawk

November 25, 2022...WELLAND - In a spirited tilt between the Niagara Knights Men's basketball program and the Mohawk Mountaineers, the Knights tragically lost with a final score of 92-90. On Thursday, November 24th, the knights were a mere seven seconds away from capturing what would have been their fifth straight win, but as a three was sunk by the Mountaineers, the hearts of every Niagara fan, coach and player sunk as well.

"That's not an indication of who we are, we ran into a hot shooting team, we didn't take good care of the ball at the end when we needed to, that's just the game of basketball" said head coach Phil Mosley  when asked how the team plans to ensure that a loss in this fashion never happens again.

Mosley is correct in that this outcome is not representative of the team's performance tonight. The Knights only trailed in the game for the final seconds while dominating the other 39 minutes and 53 seconds of gameplay. If not for an uncharacteristically high 39.5% three line shooting percentage from the Mountaineers (up from a 29% three line shooting percentage which was posted in their last game), this game would havve had a much happier ending for the Knights.

Niagara's game tonight was a true team effort, as they got a whopping 25 points from players off the bench. The team was led in the scoring column by Kennan Larmand, a sophomore playing his second year with the team, who dropped in 21 points, adding five defensive rebounds and three assists.

Niagara is facing a tough Humber (4-3) team next week, who are now just one game behind the Knights (3-4).

Mosley was asked how his team plans to keep the momentum going from their previous four games before meeting Mohawk, Mosley responded "it's about erasing this one, moving forward, and working on the things that got us that four game winning streak, and trying to correct the mistakes".

The Knights will tip-off Dec 1st in their final game before Christmas at home against the Humber Hawks at 8:00pm.
