SCARBOROUGH - The Centennial Colts applied the pressure early and often as they had their way against the Sault Cougars defeating them 5-0 on Homecoming day. It only took seven minutes for the Colts to get on the board as midfielder Kathryn Taghaboni beautifully curled a shot from outside the box over the Cougars keeper to make it 1-0. The play began with Mylie Decoff intercepting a pass then playing it back to Taghaboni, who took advantage of the Cougars keeper being off her line.

Less than two minutes later, Colts wingback Raegan Hutchinson played a through ball behind the Cougars backline which Decoff caught up to, the forward took a touch and finished with a smooth left-footed shot to give the Colts a 2-0 lead.

The Cougars (0-8-1) could not catch a break as the Colts captain Emily Cullen sent a short pass from a set piece to Hutchinson, who blasted a shot off the crossbar with the rebound falling to Decoff, but her effort went off the post, then Soledad Vazquez-Cicutto buried the empty-netter.

The Colts (5-2-2) went into halftime with a 3-0 lead. In the second half, the Colts kept their foot on the gas and were able to get a fourth goal, as Decoff chested a ball past a Cougar defender then slow-rolled her shot into the corner of the goal. Colts goalkeeper Jordyn Chrons-Slaght passed to Cullen, who perfectly placed her long ball to Decoff, who made no mistake scoring her team-leading 6th goal of the season.

Colts midfielder Noelle Harnette, who played every position except goalkeeper in the game was on the receiving end of a Shiane Carrington cross, where she easily tapped in her first goal of the season, extending the Colts lead to 5-0.

Next for the Colts is a game against the Cambrian Golden Shield, who boast the same 5-2-2 record. The game tomorrow will be at 1pm on Progress Field and it will be for a spot in the OCAA playoffs.
