OSHAWA, Ont. - Following their first doubleheader loss in 365 days, the Durham College women's softball team got right back on track with a Saturday afternoon sweep of the visiting Fanshawe Falcons.
DC opened the afternoon with a special presentation as Lords softball players
Alanna Stanoev (Whitby, Ont.),
Caleigh Coels (Duncan, B.C.), and
Julia Mantler (Drayton, Ont.) were all presented with the Gerry Theriault Memorial Bursary Award, presented annually by the Theriault family.
Durham then went on to knock off the Falcons in back-to-back contests, 8-1 and 4-0.
The Lords remain at home for another day challenging the St. Clair Saints at Durham Field tomorrow afternoon. First pitch for the Sunday afternoon doubleheader is set for 1 p.m..
GAME 1
• Durham scored eight runs in the fourth and fifth innings combined, led by a three RBI triple from the pre-game honoured Coels.
• Fourth-year right-fielder
Nicole Mancini (Toronto, Ont.) was also strong in the batter's box going 3-for-4, including a triple of her own, while crossing the plate twice.
GAME 2
• A vital piece of the top of the order for the Lords,
Alexis Pereira (Newmarket, Ont.) led the way in Game 2 with a two RBI single in the fifth inning.
GAME 1
• Lords veteran
Ashley Black (Waterloo, Ont.) pitched the complete game, allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out five.
• Andrea Webster was handed the loss going four innings for the Falcons, allowing six earned runs.
GAME 2

Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, Ont.) and
Andrea Patrick (Whitby, Ont.) combined for the shutout with Patrick picking up the win with four innings allowing just two hits. Glendinning pitched three with just one hit allowed.
• Falcons pitcher Nichole Erb was the losing pitcher going all six innings for Fanshawe.
