Softball makes it a perfect start

LONDON, Ont. - The Durham College women's softball team swept the Fanshawe Falcons in their Sunday afternoon doubleheader to complete the perfect 4-0 start to their 2019 season.

The Lords opened the afternoon with a 6-4 Game 1 victory, before dropping the Falcons 5-3 in Game 2. The doubleheader sweep comes just 24 hours after picking up back-to-back wins over the St. Clair Saints the day before in Windsor.

DC continues their road swing to open the season, traveling to North York on Wednesday, Sept. 11 to face off with the Seneca Sting. The nighttime doubleheader will be broadcast by Seneca on OCAA LIVE with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.

• Both veteran Ashley Black (Waterloo, Ont.) and second-year catcher Kaleigh MacIntyre (Guelph, Ont.) each added a single RBI.
GAME 2
• Andrea Patrick (Whitby, Ont.) and Alanna Stanoev (Whitby, Ont.) each registered three hits with identical 3-for-4 one RBI performances at the plate.
• Taking advantage of a strong third inning for the Lords, Caleigh Coels (Duncan, B.C.) highlighted the teams offensive pressure with a two-run single.
