BARRIE, Ont. - The No. 5 nationally ranked Durham Lords men's volleyball team dropped just their second match of the year, falling in straight sets to the Georgian Grizzlies on Saturday afternoon in Barrie. Set scores were 20-25, 20-25, 19-25.
Despite the regular season finale loss, the Lords conclude the 2019-20 campaign with a 16-2 regular season record, finishing in first place in the OCAA east division ahead of the Grizzlies who improved to 15-3 with the win. On the afternoon, DC struggled to convert their offensive chances against a very game Georgian squad. Durham finished the match with a hitting percentage under .200, well under their season average which ranked third in the province at .286.
The Lords will enter the OCAA postseason as the top seed from the OCAA east, matching them up with the seventh seed in the OCAA west, the 8-10 Mohawk Mountaineers. DC will host the OCAA championship qualifying match on Saturday, Feb. 22, with first serve scheduled for 8 p.m. The match will also be streamed on

• For the third consecutive match,
Andrew Dube (Uxbridge, Ont.) led the Lords offence with 10 points, finishing with nine kills and a block in the loss.
• Both
Tyler Krabi (Stouffville, Ont.) and
James Hirt (Scarborough, Ont.) added seven points each for the green and gold.
• Three separate Grizzlies cracked double-digits, topped by a game-high 12 points from Cameron Calhoun, who notched 11 kills and one service ace.
• Fifth-year setter
Liam Gray (Barrie, Ont.) registered 28 assists, adding one kill, two blocks, and two digs.
• Leading a strong overall defensive performance for the Grizzlies, Samuel Thorup recorded a game-high 10 digs, while setter Gibson Graham guided the offence with 35 assists.
