Durham continues winning ways

OSHAWA, Ont. - The No. 5 nationally ranked Durham College men's volleyball team defeated the visiting La Cite Coyotes 3-1 on Saturday night at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.

The Lords continued to maintain their perfect record, improving to 13-0 on the season to stay atop the OCAA east division. DC have dropped just three sets this season, to Georgian, George Brown, and now La Cite. After dropping a tight opening set Durham went on a roll, holding the visitors from Ottawa to less than 15 points in each of the next three sets. Set scores for the match were 23-25, 25-7, 25-10, 25-15.

Durham will make a quick turnaround as they get set to face the Algonquin Thunder at the CRWC tomorrow afternoon. First serve for the home contest is scheduled for 3 p.m., with all the aciton streaming on OCAA LIVE.
  • An absolute force in the middle, Tristan Swinden (Whitby, Ont.) registered a game-high 16 points, tallying nine kills, five service aces, and two blocks.
• A pair of first-year standouts in Rouzbeh Rahnavard (Richmond Hill, Ont.) and Jason Cazes (Richmond Hill, Ont.) also broke double-digits for the Lords in the win recording 14 and 11 points respectively.
• Donnic Baker led all Coyotes with eight points from seven kills and one block.
  • Another impressive outing for setter Liam Gray (Barrie, Ont.), the veteran finished with 35 assists, adding six kills, one ace, and one block offensively and five digs defensively. 
• Jumping into the libero position during second semester, Lucas Pichl (Cobourg, Ont.) led the team with six digs, while Brandon Low (Pickering, Ont.) also notched six as well.
• Mikael Gareau guided the Coyotes offence with 15 assists, while Tyler Fortier recorded a game-high seven digs.
  Overall Record: 23-7 (W-L)
