Late Innings Doom Sting

The Seneca Sting (0-7) gave up 11 runs over the final three innings, falling to the Fanshawe Falcons (3-4) 11-2.

In what started as a pitcher's duel early, the Sting were the first to break through. Kiara Saito was the first to cross home plate, scoring on a single to left field by Grace Michauville.

With Chantal Gendron on the mound, the Sting were able to hold the Falcons scoreless through four innings. The Falcons finally got on the board in the top of the fifth inning, scoring three runs with Katie Berg, Samantha Fuller and Kennedi Roth touching home plate.

Following an RBI single in the bottom half of the fifth inning by Jasmin Namnama which scored Leeanne Delorme, the Falcons blew the game open in the sixth inning. Six Falcons scored runs, thanks to timely hitting and poor defensive play by the Sting.

The Falcons added one final run the seventh inning when Paige Askew was driven home by Ali Bergman. 

Delorme paced the Sting at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Danielle Pound, Namnama, Saito, Michauville and Alik Derderian each added a hit.

Fuller went 2-for-4 for the Falcons, adding 2 RBIs and a pair of runs. Emily Davis, Askew, Bergman and Berg each had a pair of hits. Bergman added three RBIs while Laura Chappel added a pair of RBIs.

Chappel picked up the win for the Falcons, throwing a complete game, allowing 2 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits while striking out 10 batters. Gendron suffered the loss, allowing 10 runs (8 earned) over 5.1 innings, walking 2 batters and recording 4 strikeouts. Nicole Pearce finished the game for the Sting, allowign 1 run (1 earned) on 2 hits.
