Rugby 7's Finishes East/West With 3-1 Record, Branch Sets New OCAA Single-Game Record
PETERBOROUGH – Humber rugby sevens improved to 10-1 on the season, finishing the difficult Crossover Weekend with a 4-1 record. The Hawks outscored their opponents 132-59 over the tournament, highlighted by Christina Branch's 60 points.
In Humber's opening match, Christina Branch scored 30 points against Loyalist – breaking her own OCAA record of 27, from 2017. Branch finished with four tries and five converts in the win and both marks were one away from OCAA single-game records, as well.
Humber's only loss came in a lacklustre defeat against the Algonquin Thunder, falling to the team they beat in the 2018 Finals, 20-12. Two quick tries from Cheyenne De Luca gave Humber an early 12-5 lead but the Hawks were unable to hold on, getting shut out in the second half, while allowing the Thunder to score three unanswered tries.
