OSHAWA, Ont. – Mike Harper (Oakville, Ont.) tied his season-high output of 15 points as he led the Durham College men's volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over the Loyalist Lancers.
The victory has clinched second place in the OCAA east region, which gives the Lords a berth to the championship hosted Feb. 23-25 by Mohawk College in Hamilton.
Harper finished the night with eight kills, six blocks and an ace.
Andrew Dube (Uxbridge, Ont.) and
Andrew Watson (Uxbridge, Ont.) each finished the night with 10 kills, but Dube was the more efficient of the two with .625 hitting percentage.
Durham opened the match 25-20 and 25-13 sets, but lost the third 25-23 to the Lancers.
The fourth looked like it might go Loyalist's way again, but Durham dug deep and came through to win 25-23.
Adam Strickland tied Harper for a match-high 15 points in the Lancers' loss. Joe Bresee added 10 kills and a block for Loyalist.
The No. 10 ranked Lords will now wait until Feb. 12 for their final home game of the regular season when they host the Canadore Panthers. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. or immediately after the women's match.
