Mohawk men's basketball lost a hard fought battle 97-88 to the St. Clair Saints.

In the first quarter, the Mountaineers were able to keep pace with the Saints, trailing 25-21.

St. Clair would shoot 50 per cent from the field in the second quarter to extend their lead to 14 going into halftime.

The third quarter was Mohawk's best of the game as they outscored St. Clair 25-22, and held their opponents to 19 per cent from the field.

In the final 10 minutes the Mountaineers were able to cut the Saints lead down to six. However, a few late turnovers by Mohawk allowed St. Clair to seal the victory.

The Mountaineers found themselves in foul trouble throughout the game, but their bench was able to provide 39 points.

Deandre Goulbourne (Toronto, ON) off the bench led Mohawk in scoring with 21 points and eight rebounds. Emanuel Otong (Cambridge, ON) registered a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, and Daniel Graham (Hamilton, ON) continues to have a strong season as he provided 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

The Mountaineers will conclude their season on Mar. 5 when they travel to play the Lambton Lions at 4 p.m.
