BELLEVILLE, Ont. - The Durham College women's rugby team set the bar high for the 2019 season as they earned a 3-1 overall record at the first east division tournament of the fall in Belleville on Saturday.
The Lords opened the day with a hard-fought 12-5 victory over a very game Algonquin Thunder squad.
Kaylah Moehling (Port Colborne, Ont.) and
Glory Ezeude (Vaughan, Ont.) scored both tries for DC with Moehling also kicking one successful convert.

Despite trailing 7-5 at the half to the St. Lawrence Vikings in Game 3, the Lords bounced back in the second half to win their third match of the day 22-7. Moehling added two more tries to her name, while both Ezeude and Browne added a single marker each. Belanger kicked one convert.
Trailing late in the final game as well, the Lords were nearly able to complete a comeback again, but came up just three points short in a 17-14 loss to the Fleming Knights. Moehling and Browne each recorded a try to make it four scores apiece on the day, while Belanger successfully kicked two more converts to lift her total to five for the afternoon.
On Oct. 5-6 DC is back in action in Peterborough for the OCAA's crossover tournament. With four matches in two days, the Lords will challenge Sheridan, Seneca, Conestoga, and Humber.
