ETOBICOKE - No. 1 Humber men's volleyball (10-0, 1st West) extended its win streak after downing No. 12 Conestoga Condors (7-3, 2nd West) in straight sets on Jan 9. The final scores were 25-15, 25-17, and 25-13.
Outside Rrezart Sadiku got the Hawks started in their 2020 debut, earning control for his team with a kill followed by a five-point service run. Humber built off this lead throughout the first and second sets with back-to-back blocks by senior Andrew Blakey, leaving the Condors trailing behind. Earning six aces within two sets, third-year Jake Gomes was a vital tool in maintaining the Hawks' lead. Kills by Rrezart Sadiku and Eduardo Silva Ferreira were unstoppable by the Condors, as Humber took the first set at 25-15 and the second at 25-17.
Humber maintained its momentum as they entered the final set of the night, with freshman Joshua Fadare putting the Hawks on the scoreboard with an outside kill, followed by Rrezart Sadiku nailing down double service aces. The Hawks were unstoppable as a four-point deficit pushed the Condors into an early timeout. Maximum Crowder was a force at the net, halting the Condors offence with three total blocks. Andrew Blakey pushed Humber to victory with a three-point service run, ending the game at 25-13.
Third-year Rady Kim earned Hawks Nation Player of the Game honours, continuing his defensive dominance for Humber at the libero position. Joshua Fadare led the Hawks with 11 kills and three aces.
