Naccarato Earns First SO In Knights 3-0 Win Over Lions

September 19, 2022...WELLAND - The Niagara College women's soccer team secured their second win of the season Friday night with a 3-0 win over the Lambton Lions. With the win, the Knights move to 2-1 on the season.

From the outset of the match the Knights were in control of the game continually pressing in the Lions half before Rylan Greatrix broke open the scoring midway through the first half to make it 1-0 Niagara.

Lambton managed to stave off the Knights for the remainder of the half with Niagara hanging on to their 1-0 lead heading into the second half.

The Knights continued the pressure through the second half with with rookie Tori Hultink netting her first goal of the season and Sydney Sica adding one for her second of the year to seal up the 3-0 win.

The blue and white registered 31 shots on net against the Lambton keeper while the Lions mustered up just one shot on Knights veteran keeper Sierra Naccarato. Naccarato recorded her first shut-out of the 2022-2023 campaign.

"I thought the team played well tonight," said head coach Rob Lalama. "We moved the ball and were able to regain possession quickly. Most importantly, we were able to give minutes to all players tonight."

Niagara will now look ahead to their midweek home game on Wednesday, when they kick-off against the Sheridan Bruins for the second time in two weeks. The Knights defeated the Bruins 2-1 back on September 13. Kick-off at Youngs Sportsplex is set for 6:00 pm.
