OSHAWA, Ont. – Kitchener's Bret Polfuss was locked in on Sunday afternoon as he finished with a match-high 16 points in a 3-0 victory for the Durham College men's volleyball team.
 
Polfuss had 11 kills, three aces and two blocks against the same Canadore Panthers team that he set his season-high 24 points against on October 23 to open the regular season. On Sunday, his performance was more impressive though, as he finished with 5.3 points per set, as opposed to 4.8 in October.
 
The No. 11 ranked Lords opened and finished the match with 25-20 set wins. In the second they won a back-and-forth battle, by taking it 28-26.
 
Recognized after the match as graduating senior, Polfuss was joined by five others: Damin Noss (Woodville, Ont.), John Pham (Mississauga, Ont.), Riley McAdams (Cobourg, Ont.), Mike Harper (Oakville, Ont.) and Braydon Rodgers (Leaskdale, Ont.).
 
Harrison Wood (Uxbridge, Ont.) wasn't far off Polfuss' pace, finishing the match with 10 points (six kills, two aces, two blocks).
 
On the opposite end of the court Jesse Seberras finished with a team-high nine kills for Canadore.
 
Durham will now face Fleming on Wednesday in their final game of the regular season. Their result will not affect their placement in the OCAA east region standings as they hold the east's second seed heading into the OCAA championship hosted by Mohawk College.
