(London, Ontario) – At the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre on Saturday afternoon, the #2 nationally ranked Fanshawe Women's Basketball team (7-1) defeated University of Toronto Mississauga (4-5) by a score of 100-47. It was a great team win for the Falcons, as the squad recorded 31 assists, which ties a Fanshawe Basketball record for most assists in a game.

The Falcons and the UTM Eagles exchanged 3-pointers in the opening quarter, as local guards Chuot Angou and Mikhaila Wright caught fire early. UTM stayed within reach until a triple from Claire Dechet (London, ON) sparked a 12-3 Fanshawe run. The home team held a 28-14 advantage after the first frame.

In the second quarter, the red and white continued to shoot well from behind the arc. Rookie guard Jessica Jordan scored five straight points, including a baseline 3-pointer. Jordan would score a career-high 15 points for the Falcons. Fanshawe led UTM 46-28 going into the locker room at half time.

The Falcons played phenomenal defense in the third quarter, holding the Eagles to zero points. On the offensive end, Fanshawe got buckets from eight different players in the quarter including layups from Sydney Kendellen (London, ON) and Mackenzie Van Dyk (Parkhill, ON). Going into the final frame, the Falcons were up 77-28.

In the fourth quarter, Fanshawe moved the ball extremely well. Maggie Jarvis (London, ON) had a nice assist to Natalie Warren (London, ON) for the layup. Shortly after, Van Dyk would find Alison Cotton (London, ON) under the basket for another layup. Van Dyk recorded four assists in the final quarter. As a team, the Falcons shot an impressive 59.7% from the field, including 55% from behind the arc. Angou led all scorers with 17 points.

Fanshawe will take the court again on Friday, November 30 as they travel to Welland to face the Niagara Knights (3-4).
