HUSKIES LOSE HEARTBREAKER TO LANCERS

The George Brown College men's basketball team fell to the Loyalist Lancers 71-70 in the second game of their back-to-back on Saturday afternoon on the road.

NOTABLE STATS: The Lancers offence was off and running in the first quarter, leading the Huskies 27-18. However, the complete opposite happened in the second quarter as the Huskies offence jumped started thanks to Jacob Masters' 10 points in the frame. As a result, George Brown led 44-42 at halftime.

The back-and-forth continued the rest of the game. Finally, the Huskies had possession, down by one with only 12 seconds left in the game. Third-year forward Jaelon Stith missed a game-winning basket. 

First-year guard Masters was on fire throughout the game, shooting 47% from the field, including four three-pointers for a game-high 24 points. He also collected six rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block. 

Second-year forward Russel Kalyango Jr., posted his first-career double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while first-year guard Patrick Rivera chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds in the loss. 

UP NEXT: The Huskies have three games next week, the first of which happens on Wednesday night when they host the Georgian Grizzlies (2-0). Tip-off is set for 8 pm.
