Kitchener, ON (Sept 25, 2021) The St. Clair women's soccer team remained unbeaten in OCAA league play after defeating the Conestoga Condors in Kitchener on Saturday by a score of 3-2.
Conestoga took the lead in the 9th minute but the Saints responded quickly in the 21st minute as Tira Copeland (Windsor; Holy Names) slotted one home from 20 feet. St. Clair went up 2-1 in the 26th minute on a header by Ravneet Rana (Windsor; Riverside) from a corner kick. Emma Riccardi (LaSalle; Sandwich) put the Saints up 3-1 in the 63rd minute after a nice through ball as she chipped it over the keeper who came charging out. The Condors got a late goal in the 94th minute to make it 3-2.
The Saints would hold the one-goal lead for the remainder of the game, giving goalkeeper Athena Dimario Done (Windsor; St. Joseph's) the win. Dimario Done made 6 saves while the Conestoga made 6 as well.
With the win St. Clair's record improved to 2 wins and a draw.
The Saints are back in action on Wednesday when they host the Lambton Lions at 6 pm at Acumen Stadium at the SportsPark.
