WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CLOSE OUT FIRST HALF WITH WIN OVER COLTS
Mckenzie Howlett and the Grizzlies carried a great start to propel themselves to a 47-36 victory over Centennial on Tuesday
The Georgian Grizzlies women's basketball team wrapped up their first half of the season on Tuesday night when they took on the Centennial Colts in Toronto.
It was a great game for the Grizzlies with an even more impressive start.
The Grizzlies opened the game by going on a 17-0 run and led after one quarter 19-4.
From there the Colts were able to bounce back to make it close but the Grizzlies were able to pull away late for a 47-36 victory.
Cassidy Warren-Timpano (Barrie) led the way for the Grizzlies scoring a team-high 13 points while teammate Mckenzie Howlett (Barrie) had a 12 point performance.
The win was Georgian's second of the season with both victories coming over the Colts. The two teams will meet one more time to close out the regular season on Feb. 16.
The Grizzlies will now have a few weeks to reset before the regular season picks up again in January.
Georgian begins the second half with a road trip to play the St. Lawrence Vikings and Loyalist Lancers on Jan. 11 & 12
Next home game for the Grizzlies will take place on Saturday, Jan. 19 when Georgian hosts the St. Lawrence Vikings at 6 p.m. Tickets are available for all home games are available at the doors for $5.
