LANCERS GO 2-0 ON WEEKEND ROADTRIP

The Lancers got themselves back up to .500 with a pair of wins in Ottawa over the weekend.

After stuggling on the road all season, the Lancers turned things around in their final swing trip and took down the Algonquin Thunder 65-54 on Saturday before beating the La Cite Coyotes 73-69 on Sunday.

The Lancers started the game off right with a dominating first half that had them ahead 22-8 at the end of the first quarter. Expanding on their lead, the Lancers continued to roll over the Thunder and widened the gap to a 20 point spread at the half. The veterans on the team were in sync and unselfish at both ends of the court while guys coming off the bench played key roles in the team's win.  Fourth year player Noah Korovesi scored an impressive 20 points, 18 of which werein  the first half, to lead the game in scoring while Akim Ruot recorded his third double double of the season with 11 rebonds and 10 points.  Second year player Angelo Sarsonas turned in another incredible performance with 4 steals, 5 assists and 8 points in the win.

Starting day two off in much the same fashion, the Lancers came out against the Coyotes with energy and never looked back. Player experience came through again for the Lancers with 5 veterans contributing double digit points and securing 25 of the team's 32 rebounds. Not only were the Lancers playing some of the best team ball they've played all season, they improved to 86% from the foul line and outscored the Coyotes in 3 of 4 quarters.

With two more games left on the season, the Lancers are tied for 5th place with the Georgian Grizzlies and well within playoff range.

The now 9-9 Lancers make the short trip to Kingston on Wednesday February 13th to take on the St. Lawrence Vikings before their final home game of the year on Sunday February 17 against the Canadore Panthers.
