OSHAWA, Ont. – Behind a stellar performance from the starting five, the Durham College men's basketball team topped the visiting St. Lawrence Vikings 89-85 on Friday night at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
Trailing 39-34 at the halftime break, the Lords rebounded to outscore the Vikings by nine points in the second half to surge back for the home victory. Four of the five starters for the Lords reached double-digits in scoring, while DC also dominated in the paint with 62 of their 89 points on the night coming down low.
Durham will next hit the road to face the Loyalist Lancers on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. with the game being streamed on
OCAA LIVE.
• For the second consecutive game first-year forward
Gabriel Andre (Ottawa, Ont.) led the Lords with a game-high 20 points, finishing 9-for-14 in 28 minutes, adding two free throws made.
• Returning veterans
Fioti Mabanza (Whitby, Ont.) and
Romareo Stephenson (Markham Ont.) added 18 and 17, while first-year athlete
Roy Anku (Edmonton, Alta.) notched 11 points in the start.
• Albert Opena scored a team-high 19 points for the Vikings in the loss.
• Mabanza was active on the boards bringing down a team-high nine rebounds, while also adding five assists, three steals, and a block to round out an impressive stat line.
• Stephenson also chipped in all over the court, registering five steals, four assists, three rebounds, and a block.
• St. Lawrence forward Arnaud Ciza recorded a game-high 12 rebounds.
