Colts Make History

SCARBOROUGH, Neilson Park – Colts Baseball made history on September 16, 2022, earning the program's first-ever series sweep dispatching the Seneca Sting 11-1. Liam Oates pitched a complete game and struck out four batters. "My fastball was working, it's always working. The curveball and change-up always occasionally work too. This is probably one of a couple of complete games I have had in my career, and it's a great experience and even better in college," said Oates.

The Sting (2-4) scored early after a Colts' error, but would not be able to add to their score as it was all Colts from there. The Colts (4-2) got on the board in the bottom of the second, Shoya Hase reached base on an infield single. Has then stole third base and was sent home after Robert Mccarty-Salerno launched a double. Zach Worden singled, and Tejean O'Sullivan walked to load the bases in the inning. Cameron James hit an RBI single, as Mccarty-Salerno scored a run. Owen Nicholas drove in Worden and O'Sullivan to extend the Colts' lead to 4-1.

Colts' third baseman Brandon Turner blew the game wide open in the sixth inning, his RBI triple drove in three runs, increasing the score to 9-1, and the Colts would not look back. Turner was rewarded, as he tapped home plate after an RBI single by Hase, which put the Colts up 10-1. The Colts would tally one more, resulting in a final score of 11-1.

"For a lot of these kids, it's their first time playing college ball, so to see the atmosphere, lots of fans, to get the music, and have their name announced, it's awesome for them, and we look forward to keeping it going next time at home," said coach Ben Anderson.

Next on tap for the Colts is a series against Sheridan College at Clarkson Park on Saturday, September 17, with the game beginning at 4 pm.
