SCARBOROUGH, Ont. - Traveling just down the 401 to challenge Centennial in Scarborough, the Durham Lords women's basketball team cruised to a 30-point victory, defeating the Colts 80-50 on Friday night.
Durham was red hot in the first quarter outscoring Centennial 27-10, while shooting 60 per cent from the field in the opening frame. After the Colts closed the gap in the second quarter, the Lords responded with an impressive defensive effort in the third where they held Centennial to just seven points and 17.6 per cent shooting. Durham outscored Centennial 48-18 in the paint and continued to display a strong passing game recording 24 assists to just 10 for the Colts.
The Lords will look to win their fourth consecutive conference game next week when they welcome the St. Lawrence Vikings to the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre on Friday, Jan. 25. The home contest will also serve as Durham's annual Bell Let's Talk game in support of the mental health initiative. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. with the game also streamed live at

• Team scoring leader
Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, Ont.) once again led the way, scoring a game-high 17 points, while adding seven assists to pace the Lords offence.
• Three more Lords broke double-digits in the convincing road win:
Emily Chamberlain (Kingston, Ont.) notched 15;
Dekota Kirby (Markham, Ont.) earned 13, including three made field goals from behind the three point line; and
Marie Stasiuk (Cobourg, Ont.) recorded 13 points and six assists.
• Michelle Beloso registered a team-high 13 points for the Colts in just 19 minutes of action.

• During the Lords current three-game win streak, Stasiuk has recorded a double-double in each victory, adding a game-high 11 rebounds to her season total on Friday night.
• Chamberlain added nine rebounds for the Lords, while
Keisha Arthurworrey (Oshawa, Ont.) continued her strong inside play with eight.
• Beloso's team-leading night also included nine rebounds, tying Colts teammate Lauren Barker on the night.
