Lambton Buzzer Beater Ends No. 8 Men's Basketball Win Streak

SARNIA — The No. 8 Humber men's basketball team saw their 13-game winning streak come to an end, as they fell to the Lambton Lions (10-8, 6th West), 84-82, Saturday afternoon.

Jaylan Morgan finished with a team-high 17 points while picking seven rebounds, two steals and one assist in a losing effort.

Humber had a strong opening quarter shooting 11-of-23 (47.8 percent) from the floor, finishing with 26-points. The Hawks held Lambton to 19-point in the first, thanks in part to the seven steals they forced in the quarter.

The second quarter was all Lambton as they took control throughout most of the quarter with a 20-4 run. Humber struggled shooting for most of the quarter finishing 4-of-18 on way to just 12 points. Despite their struggles, the Hawks trailed by just four at the half.

It was a tightly contested third quarter as both teams were efficient on the offensive end. Kevin Otoo carried the Hawks offence in the quarter scoring 11 of the teams 21-points in the quarter, as he shot 5-of-6 (83.3 percent) in the third. Lambton was just as good in the quarter finishing with 22-point in the third as they led by five entering the fourth.

Both teams went back and forth trading baskets with Lambton taking an 82-80 lead with just over one minute to play. That score would stand until Jaylan Morgan drew a foul from behind the arc with just 9.2 seconds left. With a chance to give his team the lead Morgan made 2-of-3 from the line retying the game as Lambton held the final possession. With the game on the line, Lambton's Darrius Canty banked in a floater off the glass at the buzzer, giving the Lambton Lions the 84-82 victory.
