London, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Softball team finished 2022 perfect winning the OCAA Gold Medal by a score of 4-0 over Durham College (Oshawa) Saturday afternoon at the Provincial Championship tournament being hosted at Fanshawe College in London.  The Women's Softball team became only the 4th Saints varsity team to achieve an undefeated campaign amassing a 34-0 record that includes exhibition play along with provincial and national playoff contests.  Previously St. Clair's Men's Ice Hockey (1975-76), Men's Baseball (2015) and Men's Cross Country (2018) teams had achieved an unbeaten regular season through playoff championship run.

In Saturday's title game St. Clair got on the board first in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Judy Lafleur (Essex, ON/Essex) doubled to left field to score teammates Ashley-Rae Brill (LaSalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) and Amy Claydon (Cambridge, ON). Bryanna Kressler (Kitchener, ON) then scored on an error to make the score 3-0. Kressler was strong on the mound for St. Clair and only allowed one hit after four innings of play. In the bottom of the 6th inning shortstop Shae-Lyn Murphy (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) scored off of a Kressler single to extend the St. Clair lead to 4-0 which was all the runs the Saints would need.

Kressler was the winning pitcher for the Saints who spread out only four hits and added seven strikeouts with no walks.  Lafleur was named Player of the Game for St. Clair while Murphy and Claydon were selected as Championship All-Stars.  OCAA Championship MVP honours went to Kressler who on top of allowing no earned runs in a pair of 7 inning pitching wins batted .333 with 6 RBI's for St. Clair.
