OTTAWA, Ont. - Making a late fourth quarter comeback to force overtime, the Durham College women's basketball team fell 74-65 in the extra period on Friday night.
Down 53-39 after three quarters of play, the Lords outscored the Thunder 21-7 in the fourth to draw even. The guard duo of
Dekota Kirby (Markham, Ont.) and
Alyssa Navarro (Oshawa, Ont.) scored seven points apiece in the explosive fourth quarter, while the Durham defence held Algonquin to just 17 per cent shooting from the field.
However, the Lords were undone in overtime by foul trouble, allowing the Thunder to take 14 free throws, versus just two shots from the stripe for the Lords.
The No. 14 nationally ranked Lords will have a chance at immediate redemption when they welcome the Thunder to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre next Friday, Nov. 16. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. with all the action also streamed live on

Marie Stasiuk (Cobourg, Ont.) paced the Lords offence with a team-high 18 points on an efficient 8-for-13 shooting from the field.

Dekota Kirby's fourth quarter surge helped her end the evening with 16 points and six assists.
• Thunder guard Rita Sibo was an offensive force scoring a game-high 29 points, including five three-pointers, while adding five assists and two steals.

• Stasiuk recorded a double-double during her dominant performance in the paint, grabbing a game-high 13 boards, including four off the offensive glass.Â

Emily Chamberlain (Kingston, Ont.) notched eight rebounds, adding six points in the paint.
• Sierra Peck led the Thunder with 11 rebounds in just 29 minutes played.
