VAUGHAN – No. 4 Humber Women's Soccer (7-0-1, 1st West) defeated the Conestoga Condors (1-4-2,6th West) by a score of 5-0. Humber controlled possession for much of the game and dominated the Condors offensively. Kaitlynn Russell had another impressive game scoring a hat-trick, while Catarina Medeiros recorded her 13th and 14th point of the season to give Humber its seventh win in 2022.

Match Recap

As the sun set on a warm fall evening, the Hawks kicked off their third straight home game looking for their seventh win of the 2022 season. The crowd at the Ontario Soccer Centre was ecstatic to see their women's soccer team in action against the Conestoga Condors.

Humber wasted no time getting on the board after a Condors' foul in the box sent second-year forward Cassy Ettore to the penalty spot. She confidently buried the ball in the bottom right corner of the net to put the Hawks up one. This was the Bolton native's second goal and third point of the season.

Captain Kaitlynn Russell continued her lights-out season in the first half, adding a goal with her team-leading seventh of the 2022 campaign. In the 18th minute, the second-year forward swiftly controlled the ball into the box and dangled her way around two Conestoga defenders on her way to the net, where she made no mistake scoring. In the 44th minute, Russell would score another for her second tally of the game. Elisa Oliveira crossed the ball flawlessly onto Russell's foot for her to find the back of the net, tallying her eighth of the season right before halftime.

The first half ended with the Hawks leading 3-0. The squad had eight shot attempts, five coming on target, and one corner opportunity. The Condors' mediocre effort had them posted on a single-shot attempt while their goalkeeper Alexis Glogowski made two saves.

Kaitlynn Russell continued rolling in this one, potting her hat-trick goal in the 62nd minute. After a perfectly placed pass from CCAA player of the week, Catarina Medeiros, Russell would slide the ball into the bottom right corner of the net for her ninth of the season. Eight minutes later, Medeiros would add to her point total on the night labelling a rocket passed the Condors' goalkeeper for her fifth goal of the year, assisted by Calgary-native Emma Stushnoff

The Hawks concluded their 5-0 victory over Conestoga by posting 19 shot attempts, with eight coming on target and four corner opportunities. Isabella Bernardi made one save in her sixth victory of the season. She was awarded her fifth clean sheet of the year.
