LONDON, Ont. - Looking to make a move up the OCAA standings, the Durham College men's baseball team earned two vital wins over the Fanshawe Falcons on Saturday afternoon in London.
Behind stellar pitching and strong defence in both games of the Saturday doubleheader, the Lords were able to shutout the Falcons 7-0 and 2-0, respectively.
Durham remains on the road for a showdown in Toronto with the George Brown Huskies on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Looking to continue climbing the leaderboard, first pitch is set for 6 p.m.
Game 1
• Third-year catcher
Sam Cawker (Courtice, Ont.) sparked the Lords offence in the sixth inning with a two RBI double, bringing home what would become the game-winning runs.
• First-year power hitter
Fernando Suarez Muniz (Whitby, Ont.) was also impressive going 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring an RBI and crossing the plate once himself.

Griffin Oliver (Oshawa, Ont.) drove in the game-winning run with an RBI sacrifice fly in the second inning, while first-year first baseman
Palmer Cruickshank (Oshawa, Ont.) added an insurance run on a wild pitch in the third.
Game 1
• DC pitcher
Jason Crouse (Oshawa, Ont.) earned his second win of the season, allowing just two hits and three walks, while striking out eight batters in the shutout effort.
• Kale Bilger was handed the loss for the Falcons putting in six innings of work with six earned runs allowed.
Game 2
• A pitching duel from the opening throw,
Jake Legros (Oshawa, Ont.) picked up the win, allowing just four hits and one walk, while striking out four in seven complete shutout innings.
• No slouch himself, Fanshawe pitcher Joe Blakely also went a complete seven innings, allowing one earned run from four hits and one walk, while striking out five Lords.
