Mountaineers softball found themselves in some big holes in doubleheader action versus the Fanshawe Falcons, dropping both games 19-1 and 12-1.

Due to unfortunate weather that closed Mohawk's home field for the weekend, the Mountaineers were forced to travel to Fashawe despite being the home team.

In the opening game the Falcons jumped out in front early with two runs in the first inning. Fashawe would add to their lead with 11-runs in the third and followed that up with six in the fifth.

Mountaineers lone run came in the fourth inning off a Michaela Walker double that scored Emma Harker.

In game two, Mohawk kept it close in the first three innings before the Falcons jumped out in front 5-0.

Mohawk would also score in the fourth inning of this game following a Randi Dale single that cashed in Harker.

Katie Ross had a 2-for-4 game at the plate for Mohawk.

"The first game was a little disappointing," said head coach Logan White. "We didn't really show up like we were planning to, but the positive is we did comeback in the second game and showed a lot more grit."

White was impressed with the teams bats in game two, saying that the players let the Falcons game one pitcher get in their heads.

"In the second game you can tell we were trusting our swings a little more and being a bit more aggressive," White said.

Mohawk will now travel to play the Durham Lords on Oct. 18 in doubleheader action, with game one at 6 p.m. and game two at 8 p.m. This is also a makeup game from an earlier postponed date and Mountaineers will once again be the home team on the road.
