Mohawk Mountaineers women's soccer had plenty of chances to score in their 2022 home opener at Tim Hortons Field, but were unable to capitalize in a 0-0 draw versus the Redeemer Royals.

The Mountaineers first half featured some good intensity and pressing up field, while also preventing the Royals from getting any consistent attack.

Mohawk had four shots on goal in addition to six corner kicks. Redeemer was unable to get a shot on net the first 45 minutes.

"We moved the ball very well, we have been up and forced [Redeemer] to open up," said Mohawk head coach Paul Giannini. "We are on the right path."

The match became a little more even in the second half with the Mountaineers generating four shots and the Royals coming up with two of their own.

Through three games of the season Mohawk's roster is truly coming together as a unit.

"I think we jelled very quickly as a team," said third-year Lauren Snider (Brantford, ON). "I think we are going to grow and go up from here."

Next up Mohawk will travel to play the Humber Hawks on Sept. 21 with a 7 p.m. start.
