OSHAWA, ON - Hosting the Humber Hawks at Kinsmen Stadium on Friday night, the Durham Lords fell in back-to-back contests, 8-1 and 9-0.
In the doubleheader, DC faced stellar pitching from the Hawks, with Humber limiting the Lords to just seven combined hits, three total walks, and one unearned run over the two Friday evening contests. Though opportunities were there for Durham to score with 10 players left on base between the two games.
Opening their 2021 campaign with an 1-4 record, the Lords will look to bounce back on the road as they begin a four-game road trip in Sarnia versus the Lambton Lions next Friday, Oct. 1. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Game 1

Tyler Chong (Markham, ON) was the lone Lords batter to pick up multiple hits in the opening game, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a run.
• Five Hawks players recorded an RBI, led by Cameron Wilcox who was 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run.

Wendel Johnson (Whitby, ON), and
Brett Diamond (Newcastle, ON) each recorded a hit for Durham in the tough Game 2 matchup.
• Both Aidan Murphy and David Boatto recorded two RBI for the Hawks in the late night victory.

Michael Asselin (Pickering, ON) went 3.2 innings, allowing three hits and three earned runs, while striking out one.

Aidan Carbray (Oakville, ON) appeared in relief for DC.
• Dalton Brownlee earned the win for the Hawks, pitching five total innings with eight strikeouts, while allowing two walks and three hits.
Game 2
• Despite a solid first two innings which saw DC starter
Thomas Handy (Newington, ON) concede just one run and pick up three strikeouts, the Lords first-year pitcher saw his evening come to an end in a six-run third inning. Handy finished the game going 2.1 innings, allowing six earned runs on four hits and three walks.
• In five complete innings. Hawks winning pitcher Shaine O'Keefe struck out seven Durham batters, giving up just four hits and one walk.
